Good question ... I did go out and turn the headlights, radio, work the windows, etc and they were OK.
Also, regarding Jim's question about the battery light ... it seems to function properly and I've never seen it on while driving, only when starting up. While I was push starting it yesterday with the ignition on, the battery light stayed on the whole time until the car started up.
I bought the starter theory in part because when I just got my license, my father had a car with a bad starter. There was a hammer in the car and if it didn't start, I was supposed to open the hood and bang on the starter. If that didn't work, I was supposed to get a jump, because somehow the extra juice would get the starter cranking. This all was very embarrassing the time I took a girl to the beach and couldn't start the car when it was time to leave ("Hold on, let me just get the hammer ... ok, that didn't work, now let me flag down a jump")
So I thought a new battery in my car was like a jump start and as the extra juice wore off, so did the ability for it to override the faulty starter. So, like I said, I hope the ignition switch solves the problem.
Have a great weekend all and thanks again.
