Sandy,
To be honest, it may be worth paying someone to do the job. You'll need a special socket (Torx E-16, I think) in a 1/2" drive. You will need a torque wrench, as well as a general assortment of tools. I'm not trying to discourage you, this is a fairly involved repair and you really need to know what you're doing.
It took me about 12 hours over several days to finish the job. Once the head is off, it needs to go to a machine shop to be checked. Talk to the shop ahead of time to make sure they know you are coming and can handle the job. I think removing the head took about 4 hours, cleaning the surfaces and general polishing took another 2 hours, and about 4 hours for reassembly.
When disassembling, make sure you label and bag every nut and bolt (ie - intake manifold bolts, motor mount nuts) and label every single wire connector you remove. This alone will save you heartache down the road.
This is a 'precision' repair in that you must time the camshaft to the crankshaft exactly, or you risk ruining the motor. I did this step 3 times until I was happy with the results.
It's easy to go crazy replacing stuff while you're here. I used new head bolts, a new thermostat, and reused the belts and hoses. I also went with an 82 degree fan switch, as I think overheating caused mine to finally fail.
Where are you located? Maybe someone close will offer to help you out.
