I'd really doubt it was a bad valve. I'd think it was most likely spark, if it sounds like it's running on three cylinders.
Frankly, if you suspect you aren't getting spark, DON'T RUN THE ENGINE. Raw fuel is going through that cylinder, and that raw fuel can destroy the catalytic converter quickly. I'm pretty sure the tool kit with the car has a spark plug wrench in it - pull the plugs and look. Pop the top off the distributor and see if the interior posts on the cap look OK, and if the rotor seems all right. Follow the wires, and inspect them for signs of wear or arcing.
Without tools, even if you figure it out, there isn't much you can do, so what is the point of troubleshooting in the parking lot, other than knowing? Find yourself a spark plug wrench and look at the plugs.
If you did lose a cylinder, I would expect shaking at all speeds. Have you checked all of the hoses, especially the big fat one to the AMM, and from the AMM to the intake? A massive vacuum leak will cause power loss.
