My husband thinks I'm crazy, but he's not the one working on this car, I am. the car wants to upshift late, consistently. This is a 1997 saab 900 turbo automatic. I have drained and re-filled trans fluid about 14 times. I have adusted the cable to less than 1/4 inch from the spacer, tested, and just to see what happened, loosened past 1/4 to the spacer, didn't help, either way. I have adjusted the front brake bands by pulling the back trans pan and blah blah 1/4 something inch pounds blah blah... to the letter info from the SAAB manual, not the bently, or haines, the saab manual from the saab shop. I have cleaned the air intake thing the comes off of the intake manifold before the turbo. I have adjusted the idle screw. I have reconnected the disconnected charcoal cannister.
All of this has helped very little! It still upshifts late! There were no chunks of metal in the trans pan, I changed the filter anyway. I want my husband to drive a safe car, I'm not sure this car will last him the next 3 months let alone the next 10 yers like he wants it to.
We'd like to put in a 5 speed stick, but we haven't the money to purchase a rebuilt one (three baby girls take priority, nowadays!) can anyone think of soemthing that will help this poor car??
Thanks, Allyson
