Here's another approach. I live in Maine, and car is stored outside each winter. I try to put my car away "clean".
'90 SPG hatchback, red, from California. I do 4 things:
(1) Remove battery, store in basement, charge 3-4 times during winter.
(2) Make 4 trays from aluminum foil (6" square), put 1/4 box of Mothballs in each one. One on front floor, 1 on rear floor, 1 in hatch area, 1 in engine compartment.
(3) Tape a plastic bag covering the exhaust pipe.
(4) Cover it with a good breathable fitted cover (+/- $140).
In the spring it starts on about the 2nd turn over of the engine, idles perfectly. Never have had a "flat-spotted tire". It's ready for cleanup (if needed) and go.
In the fall, at the first snow the car taken off the road and never put on the street all winter. There is salt there, in the ice, in the water, in the sand.
In the spring, after the last snow, I wait an extra 3-4 weeks, or until it has rained (in quantity) 2 or 3 times. This allows time for the salt to be moved/washed away before my SPG is exposed to it (I hope). It's hard to not drive it during the waiting, but it's a good time for a bit of maintenance, cleanup, etc.
I try to store it with as little gas as possible. This allows me to fill the fuel tank with fresh gas the first time it is driven, rather than run it with faded gas. 10% old/90% new gas is better than 100% old gas, in my opinion.
I'm not sure I agree with driving a car during the storage period?
my 2 cents worth.
