There were a few changes made to the convertibles through those years (90-94).
In 90 - airbags were added. I seem to remember that the airbags need servicing after 10 years. Many people disconnect the airbag light on the dash. Make sure when you start the engine that the SRS light comes on breifly before it goes off. If it stays on, then the air bag needs servcing, if it never came on then someone disabled the light.
In 91 - wipers on the headlights were added. Also, maybe larger pinion bearing for the transmission -- cannot remember when that was added.
In 92 - new wheels, new wrap around rear spoiler. No other changes were made after 1992 (except for the deletion of the Saab emblems from the sides of car for 93, and comm. ed. in 94).
I prefer the post 92 look of the wheels and the spoiler. Make sure that the top is in good repair, including mechanicals. It can cost upwards of $1,500 to replace the canvas top, and then another $1,000 or more for pistons or motor for the roof operation.
Make sure the car does not leak. Check carpets for dampness or smell. Inspect seal around rear window.
In addition, make sure to check things for all cars--trans, engine, brakes, tires, etc.
