try this.
open the access to the fuel pump, don't take it out. get a jumper and connect the hot side of the pump to +12v. (pull off the hot connector and force an alligator clip on it, if you have a four door the inside light in the trunk is a good source) if the pump spins up the problem is in the transission connectors above the hood release lever. they bring all of the inside wiring to the main fuse block on the left fender outside the firewall in the engine compartment. if they are not working the bentley test will also fail as the connections to the relays on the right side footwell will be open.
If the pump spins up, and you ***will*** be able to hear it, try starting and driving.
*** Disconnect the jumper after engine shut down. *** you can drive like this if you need too, we did it for about 2 weeks until we figured out the following.
if that works then you need to:
open drivers door, squat on the ground, reach up with your right hand above the hood release lever, continue up against the side and you will find the three connectors. do each one, shake and pull until they release and come apart. then plug them back. turn switch on and see if pump spins up (without the jumper...). you may have to do each connector 2-3 times to get it "clean". you may have to do this again later, we needed to do a "refresh" about 6 months later but after that it was stable.
