I think you've got that kinda backwards...
Upgrading to the '88+ brake setup requires switching both front & rear hubs. To do that most easily, that means replacing both front steering members and the entire rear axle. That stuff is all bolt-up - nothing major - but changing the handbrake to activate the rear calipers instead of the front is a bit of a task. IMHO, it's a huge pain... A side effect is that you have *fewer* choices in wheels when switching to the later pattern - 4x108 is used by Audi & Volvo for just a couple years, and by European Fords (Focus, XR4Ti, Tempo, among others) and the early, 4-bolt Mustangs. It's relatively uncommon compared to the 4x114.3 of the earlier cars, which is used by primarily by Honda and Nissan, but a few other companies as well. Nearly every 4-bolt Nissan since the 70s uses it, as well as various Hondas and all 4-bolt Accords. Whenever you see a wheel on ebay that says "4lug universal," they're talking about 4x100 and 4x114.3. It's everywhere...
It's not too much of a trick to find calipers that will bolt onto your early-style spindles - I had a set of Wilwood Superlite II calipers on my '86 900S (with '87 900T vented rotors) - and as Accords, 240SXs, and countless other cars use the bolt pattern it shouldn't be much of a problem finding somewhere that can assemble you a rotor of any dimension you choose . All that said, the problem you will have is finding a caliper that supports front handbrake. On my '86, I went without... who needs it anyway? :)
All that said, how come you keep warping rotors? Even with the 4-pot Wilwoods on my '86 and pretty liberal use of the brakes I've never warped a rotor on one of the vented early-style cars. The rotors on those things are pretty stout, and certainly undersized for the application. Is it maybe your choice of rotors? I've had nothing but good luck with Balo parts, FWIW...
