Well if it wasn't for the fact that it goes right into reverse after sitting overnight (right?) but THEN loses forward drive I would suspect that the pump is having trouble finding oil and building pressure following a dormant phase and draindown. As if the filter was clogged up or the unit was low on ATF or there is a leak which drains the resevoir when the car is parked. The pump collects its oil from below in the front pan and raises it about 6" through a pipe from the filter. Do you have an ATF leak? Are you low on ATF? Otherwise this is starting to sound like a fluid control problem. ie. A valve in the valve body which malfunctions until subjected to a little warmth and proper pressure. Swapping valve bodies is one of the few fixes that can be done without pulling the unit from the car but it's a non-gloriuos task and you must first find a known good valve body. If the low/reverse band servo were hanging up you wouldn't get reverse right away so set that aside for now. Anyway you can't fix that servo without disassembling the unit. (hope I'm not remembering this tranny wrong. I don't have a book where I'm at). what else can you tell us?
