RaduP try this. Start the car cold and then from park shift all the way into "1" (1st gear position) without hesitation. Then see if the car accelerates away normally. You can run the car up to about 30 mph safely in 1st so don't panic. If it makes about 20 mph in 1st without "disengaging" then let up on the accelerator and look for deceleration traction. Then while still up above 15 mph move the shifter to the "2" position and feel for the immediate upshift to second. Now wind it out to say 35-40 mph in second and shift into "D" and feel for the third upshift. If it has the same symptom accelerating from a standstill in "1" that may help with the diagnosis. I still think this is ultimately leading to swapping the valve body. The fact that the car runs and shifts OK when warm (right?) suggests to me that this is not a stack or torque convertor problem unless it's related to a damaged bore and broken sealing rings where the input shaft passes through the T.C. housing which happens sometimes and causes front (forward) clutch application problems.
