Trogdor, sorry to be redundant, but the spring tools really shouldn't be necessary if the spring is still on its perch. Simply supporting the upper control arm somehow, which I know is difficult, while pushing down on the fender will raise the upper control arm (relative to the body) and compress the spring enough to put in some 3/4" spacers. This is the way everyone blocks their C900 suspension (even SPGs) when we change ball joints. You may need 2 guys to push down on the fender and as I suggested previously if the wheel is upright then that's all you need to support the upper control arm while pushing down on the fender. If you have the spring compressor tools that are long threaded rods with hooks on them please be very careful. Even when placed at 180* they have the potential to escape. I know lots of guys use them but they are intended for Macpherson strut compression. Of course if the spring is off of its perch then you have to compress it with a spring compressor to relocate it.
