AT 286k MY 85 900T is still fine though I check them carefully whenever I'm under the car and remember to! A lot of this has to do with salt/moisture exposure, corrosion and some metal fatigue. Also we are seeing this kind of issue more and more simply as a result of AGE. The design of the suspension is very robust but our cars are heavy up front and the lower arms and lower ball-joints in particular take a beating and a lot of vibration...which itself can lead to fatigue. Wish I had a buck for every lower C900 balljoint I've had to change over the years. I'm sure we have a Metalurgist on the board who can explain this better than me! Like us, our cars ain't getting any younger!
