I am inclined to think that the release bearing is not properly matched with the pressure plate. The release bearing design has not changed, but the finger engagement of the pressure plate has -- the old clutch as shorter fingers, and maybe there is a mismatch from the old design to the new. Or the stupid spring bellows that the racing guys hate. I bought the matched PP and metal clutch from Swedish Dynamics, and mentioned to them about unusal wear patterns, but they had no explanation that helped to remedy the situation. I bought the release bearing separately from eEuro, so maybe that was a mistake in itself.
It is probably bearing and chain noise from the primaries. Brad at George's Imports did not find anything bad, but I hate noises that can't be ID'd. I bought a Craftsman stethoscope to play doctor with the housings.
