I thought the rev limiter works by chopping the ignition signal. I haven't noticed a lean condition on the A/F ratio LEDs.
BTW, it's extremely hard for me to hit the rev limiter on an automatic trans which shifts well before 6K. And 6200 is >125mph on my car (ask me how I know this...).
But aside from the lean issues, it was my impression the Saab engines are pretty much rpm bulletproof and good to 7K rpm ok caveat w/correct mixture control.
