...Remember, rev limiter works by leaning out gasoline. Lean fuel increases burn temps and melts pistons. If this guy lives at the redline, he will fry the pistons. Just to occassionally hit redline, JAK on Performance BB said it was OK, (in fact he said he used the rev limiter as a shift up light mechanism), but then again he did fry his engine (but that might have been many other reasons).
I cannot see any possible reason for any rational person who is not road rallying to want to hit redline more than just by the occassional accident unless he has a huge turbo and needs to keep it spooled up.
So to answer the question with a question Brownie, what possible purpose do you think Saab had when they put it there on your Tachometer?
