Once a lifter goes bad, that tells me the automatic lash feature of the lifter is gone, which means the valve timing is compromised - opening later and closing sooner. Is that the situation? And if a lifter goes bad, is the valve timing compromised under all rpm conditions? Perhaps a bad lifter (dead internal spring) effects timing at low rpm's when the oil pressure is low. Under higher rpm's the increased o.p. would refill the lifter interior as long as the interior cylinder is still moving freely. Make sense?
