Re: Would it get you to the next oil change??? Posted by Zaab [Email] (#685) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Zaab) on Thu, 16 Mar 2006 09:28:20 In Reply to: Long trip, MDG, Thu, 16 Mar 2006 03:58:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
75mph uses ~20hp, maybe 50...If you are worried about a cross-country trip, you should be more worried about getting to the next 3000 mile oil change, as daily driving is a bit harder on the car than cross country,,,I have gone across 4 times in my 92 900 T, never a problem other than an alternator in southern Utah (4 day delay in 'God's country')...not a big deal.
Things to check (at least I would):
Belts, voltage output from alternator, distributor cap contacts and rotor contact, battery voltage,
check steering (wiggle the front wheels, should be tight (no wiggle)...if there is, tie rod ends and maybe ball joints, but probably not.
Change oil before and buy an extra filter and some light bulbs, spark plugs, maybe an extra head light bulb, a gallon of coolant, and Power steering fluid bottle...
Cruise control, yah, um, someone else??? I think that you don't need it, but that's me.
Nice work keeping the milage so low.
