Kip, There may be no need to do anything to that head so don't lose track of it unless it's truly hurt. If it was not overheated then it may be fine. How many miles? Read the post that I did this AM to KTurner on this board describing the check for a warped head. Then look for cracks. If it's not warped and not cracked and has less than about 75,000 miles you could probably just put it back on. Check the mating surface for flatness, more than 0.003" out requires milling. I'd always be thrilled to have a head whose only problem is that it needs some light milling. Then you could check the valve guides, seats and valves for wear and maybe just get a valve job. I've had shops (big famous ones) send me "rebuilt" heads that were not fit for scrap so if yours is pretty good keep it on a short leash. Good luck.
