Honda sells a non-hardening sealer called Honda Bond.Kinda pricey. Close to $20 a tube. My neighbor is a Saab dealer mechanic. He never uses silicone on a valve cover gasket. He says the shop uses gorilla snot to hold the gasket to the cover(the yellow 3M weatherstrip adhesive). He says a piece of silicone could let go under the cover and clog an oil passage. He only uses Loctite 518.
