I went to EKG yesterday and the mechanic is right. The fan on the back of the alternator is within millimeters of the wire/plug to the ABS pump system. The bushings/mountings for the ABS pump may be a little loose, but the alternator needed to be lower and the ABS needed to be higher to fix the problem. He's going to put on longer belts and then replace the ABS pump mount if needed. If the car was put in reverse, the engine would rock a little bit and the fan caught the wire. More to follow.....
