I guess styling is the key factor - nothing is like a classic. If you find a well maintained one - it will last even with many miles on it. I would stay away from automatics - they are 3 speed and less reliable. Unfortunately there aren't as many 5-speed as there are automatics out there. Then pay your attention to the body - good shape - grab it. Also convertible top is expensive to replace ($1000 - $1600). If you can't find one near and still interested in newer post '94 models, I would suggest skipping 900 and getting a 9-3 (1999 on) which is supposed to be a big improvement over 900 even though it looks the same.
