I see no problem running a year on the AMSOIL. I've been doing it myself for about 28 years now. If you are running Severe Service, the recommended drain interval drops to 15,000 miles or a year. If you are running the 5W-40 AFL, the recommendation is to use the longest OEM recommended drain interval OR oil analysis. Let me add, though, that while I used to put on 25-30,000 miles a year, 15,000 is about it now.
Back in the dark ages, when Volvo recommended a 3750 mile drain on it's turbos, I did oil analysis at 3750, 7500, and 11500. Oil was still suitable for continued use--it looked somewhat bad, and it had been a year so I had already changed before I got the report back.
If it gives you heartburn to run more than 3-5,000 miles, run some oil analyses and find out for yourself what a safe drain interval is.
AMSOIL bases their recommended drain intervals on their formulations, their in-house testing, and oil analysis on hundreds of thousands of engines over the past 32 years. And, they are still in business.
