so, went to drop off the keys today at my mechanic's, with all this talk of vaccum fittings/leaks bouncing around in my head. and i thought, what the hell, now that it's actually daylight and i can see what's going on, let's open the hood and have one more look. so I did, and lo and behold, the big vaccum T fitting on the top of the intake manifold was blown out of its hole. put it back in, the car started right up (though it made some more scary noise at first). full boost is back, the car's running great again, and i feel like an idiot for wasting 90 dollars on a tow truck when i could have just looked harder in the first place. thanks for everyone's help!
