I bought a used 1991 saab 900 with 162000 miles on it. My front outer CV joint is shot (boot is torn all up and empty of grease) and I suspect the inner driver is in need of replacing (heavy vibration on acceleration especially under loads). The garage I get my work done at has a history with working on saabs. They recommend replacing the whole drive axel with a reconditioned one. I have read on some sites that this is not always recommended... something about the sizing is not correct on some of the reconditioned units and it has been known to cause problems. I dont know much about this and would appreciate any of your expert recommendations for how to proceed. Do I have to be concerned about using a reconditioned drive axel? Thanks ahead of time... love reading the posts
