I just did this with an 89 4door, ended up using the pass rear switch as a temp measure. If you pull the switch pack up from the console, then you pull the front switch harness that goes to the window, reverse it and use the back switch. You should be able to get the front window up before the rain storm (ask me how I know!). I left the front window in the rear slot and was able to find a replacement switch pack on the great auction site, pulled out the one that I needed and then swapped it into the old switch pack. Recommend that you pull the fuse out before you switch it, its a 30 amp fuse. Some models have a on-off switch (kid safety?) for the rear switches, make sure its in the correct position, saves a few minutes of troubleshooting.

PS: If using the rear switch trick doesn't work, it points to a harness/motor problem.
