Todd, Sorry I don't know of anybody in your neck of the woods. I'm way out West and I'm not an advertiser on this site so I don't want to be seen as soliciting work on the BB. I'm sure that there are good Saab classic 5 speed rebuilders near you. Check with your area Saab independant mechanics. DIY is solely a question of your own ability. Lots of guys DIY these with good results but not often quickly. The only book that I think is worth relying on is the Saab factory manual section 4. Sometimes they are available on eBay but make sure that you get the model year version for your unit. You'll need access to a hydraulic press and there are some Saab special tools that make the job way easier (although not absolutely essential). I'd guess that you should expect to pay from about $900 (if all you need is bearings, seals and gaskets) up to about $1500. That's if you pull it yourself and plop it on someones workbench and it isn't really mangled. There are at least a couple of parts suppliers on this site through which you can price the bearings, gaskets, seals and other parts. Price the 1-2 shift fork, they usually need that. Good luck.
