Question 1: Basically yes but there are differences in connectors. Not all cars use the Hall Effect in the Distributor, I think only the Turbos in the 900 line.
Question 2: Yes, exactly correct
Question 3: Intermitant or weak spark or?
Question 4: Possible Weak spark or difficulty at speed (rise time too slow)
>Before I replaced the Hall effect unit when I started the car it
>would run okay and then very quickly start to miss. The miss would then
>progressively get worse until the car would stall. It would then refuse
>to start. After a long cool down the car would start again and do the same thing.
Other items to check for above would be the wire harness to the hall effect connector on the side of the distributor, Inside the cap and the rotor, the spark plugs (gap and model), the wires too (condition and age including the coil wire), Fuel Pressure regulator, Fuel pressure (pump).
You didn't mention the temperature of the car at start and then when it wouldn't restart. Got hotter or?
I'd say checkout the items around the distributor (cap, rotor and wires) and see how it goes.
Let us know how you are doing.
