Hi All,
I realized my VOM can measure current draw (duh). I think my original approach was fine to measure voltage (V = IR, so voltage would change as long as current did), but monitoring current would probably show more. For example, I noticed that my central locking wires were totally shot! Removing that fuse dropped the current draw slighly.
I also worked at the other side of the electrical system, starting at the distribution block in the fender. Why did they make it such a pain to remove?? Anyway, I noticed that after a good cleaning and wiggling the wires around the current draw went to 0, so I'm thinking I'm home free. However, one of terminals connected to the distribution block (two grey wires going to the fuse box via the wiring loom on the firewall) were still showing 11.3V... Anyone know what these wires are for?? I can't quite see what these are in Bentley -- perhaps they power relays? And one is dying??
After connecting everything back up I recorded 11.3V at the battery, and about 6 hours later, it's 11.26V, which I consider negligible, perhaps due to the temperature, so I must have done something right... Should I still be worried about the voltage I'm observing? I figure if the resistance is high enough, the current load won't be very high, and perhaps even normal? Thanks in advance!
