Besides obvious noises/behavior and the stuff mentioned above, these cars are pretty solid and safe. They do have parts that fail more frequently, but in general there isn't that much that can't be fixed cheaply by a well intentioned individual who's willing to spend 40 bucks for a bentley service manual (don't buy a different one). I'm not experienced with auto trannies on these cars, but pay extra attention to the trans and clutch on a manual (if that's what it is, of course). This seems to be the fatal, "total loss" flaw on these cars. Make sure you test the car in all the gears, and listen for whines on acceleration at about 55mph in fifth (worn pinion bearings - the onset of a blown trans). Also, make sure the clutch doesn't feel a little stiff letting out - somewhat common and expensive.
The price seems pretty good as long as there aren't any problems, and keep in mind that a saab with 165k is only a baby ;)
