Repair budget on '93 900S, vs. Turbo, what to expect

Hi folks,
I've come accross an add for a '93 900S, and the price seems very attractive for a car that looks to be in good shape.
I feel the urge to reconnect (or connect perhaps!) with a real Saab again, my '00 9-5 Aero not really being quirky enough to fill my heart. (My previous car, a '95 900 SE-T, did, but I finally couldn't stomach the $3,000 to $4,000 per year in repairs, hence the 9-5, which has been perfectly reliable, really). My parents have had 3 Saabs, a 9000 Aero (that was a nice car), a '97 900 SE-Talladega, and currently have a 9-3 SE Cab. I've never had the chance to drive one of the older classic 900 models, and I think I want one, as a fun and safe second car (I'd keep the 9-5), my girlfriend will be getting her licence soon (27 yrs old, not completely irresponsible, I think!).
Ok, here's the point: Can I get an old '93 900S, with about 135K miles, 5spd, and not have to stomach repairs on a yearly basis that are worth more than the car? Will it leave me or my Girlfriend stranded, straining our couple? (She got pissed at the '95 900SE I had a few times, as did I). I long for a classic 900 Turbo, but am afraid of more abuse, whereas a sedate looking 900S sedan inspires more faith. Am I wrong?
WHat's the budget to keep these cars going? Any comments, suggestions?
Thank you very much, sorry for the long post!!
Richard
