Essentially (and I quote with errors) 'You pays your money and you takes your chances.'
It is a 13 year old car that is known to be quirky. We here on this BB love them, but if you threw in the towel before over repairs then you need to decide just how much you want to play in this ballfield. If you are a DIY'er, then cost is less than 1/3 of what you would see as someone who always runs to a mechanic.
Aside from upgrades, mechanically my 900TC has been awesome, BUT I did replace the engine as soon as I bought the car, as well as water pump, alternator regulator, radiator, AMM, manifild heat sensor, and grounding bung. Just a proper tune-up using OEM parts can run 80 bucks for a DIY'er.
Of course I would like to see you buy the car and become a member of this BB, but from your statements I sense ambivilance.
