ah yes installation of the new bushing with the vise Posted by vvack0matic [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: press, vvack0matic ![]() |
have a washer on hand, i`m talking one as big or as round as the bushing, then get liquid soap,
i used tide laundry soap, but im sure shampoo will do fine
do not use grease of any kind when installing the new bushing...
with the liquid soap lube up the inside of the housing and the bushing.
just get everything dripping. then with one side of the housing on one side of the vise take the bushing and line it up for insertion
put the big washer on the outer end of the bushing were the vise meets the bushing,
now for the hard part as the vise is screwed closed the bushing must go in straight, it will want to slip to every-which way, if it dose reopen vise reset and try again.
patience and the right touch will get the bushing in straight.
when it happens its a wonderful thing.
(taking the old bushing out with the vise should only be around 5-10 min.
(installation is about 5-10 min.
(using grease instead of soap will cause the bushing wear out faster if i remember right ( as pr-Bentley )
