you didn't say the amount of fuel in the tank. Please go fill up just to make sure. the symptoms sound like running out of gas. even if the gauge shows some gas remaining. if you are currently reading something in the range of 1/2 to 1/4 then you *may* be having the infamous prepump failed symptom. the fuel pump pumps out of a canister (about the size and shape of a 1 lb coffee can) and the canister is filled by a prepump attached to the side of that canister. when the prempump fails you only get a gravity feed into the canister, but even more irritating is that the canister doesn't reach the bottom of the tank, only the pickup below the prepump does. So... you only can ever put in about 12 gallons US when you run out. but the gas gauge is a whole different thing and doesn't know if the prepump is dead...
