if you can...re-connect the slave and use the hydraulics to compress the plate using a thicker tool, spacer made from bucket handle or whatever. If you have to cut, it's easier to cut the slave cylinder inner sleeve with a hack saw...assuming you are renewing it. If you have 2 large and correctly shaped levers, (builders use them) you can sometimes manually open the pressure plate and have an assistant insert the tool...just make sure they know you just might take a finger...but it'll be worth it when the car is back on the road!!!
