As far as the drip leak - I'll bet you need to retighten the thermostat cap. You said you replaced it recently, so that tells me there might be a leak around that gasket. And if you look t it, if there is a leak anywhere on or near that cap, it'll run down and collect at the spot you indicate. I'm not all that familiar with radiator failure as you describe. That is, all of a sudden. If there is internal blockage, more than likely it developed over time, which means you probably would have noticed gradual increasing temps. Something sudden suggests a pump issue. Perhaps a loose or missing belt. Obviously, if you do replace the radiator and find the same problem, then you'll know for sure it likely isn't the radiator.
