My 92 900S Convertible is in really good shape, paint and body wise. In fact, most people seem to think it's new. (The odd body shape helps, I am sure.) Anyway, the only trouble spot is the hood. It must not been kept waxed because it it chalky and checked, and getting worse. My local body shop quoted me $750 to sandblast and repaint it, plus paint the cowl under the windshield, which is also chalky and faded.

So, I have been thinking about trying it myself. And if I don't like it, I can always pay the $750 later and have them do it.

So... any input? I would have to rent a sprayer, and pay to have it sandblasted. Is it wsorth it? Or will it just look like crap?

I do have faith in my use of a sprayer, so that doesn't worry me. I welcome all inout. Thanks in advance!
