If you pull the shifter, not that hard, you will find that part of the shift shaft is a nylon ball, I replaced mine, then you will find that in the bottom of the pit the shifter goes into is a nylon guide thingy. I replaced that also. Then I re adjusted the depth of the lock out pin in the bottom of the shift shaft and walla, like new. if you go to E Europarts I think you can find an exploded part view which will help you order the parts in advance. I suggest that you consider changeing the reverse light switch and even the egnition switch at the same time since mine was worn also. I gave them the part number and they had it keyed so everything stayed matched. The igntion is a wee bit tircky but with the red book you can get it done
