lots of experiences here....I always remove both sides. You have more room and far less chance of crushing a tripod when replacing the engine. There is nothing worse than finding you just popped a tripod bearing and now have to find each and every needle bearing in that mess of grease and crap when trying to drop the motor back in. In fact I sometimes even pull the hubs out altogether to make removal and replacement that much easier...you can then remove and clean the tripods and replace all the rubber boots easily. I once did a complete rebuild only to find 1 week later a split outer driveshaft boot!!!!! The Saab continuum works in endless ways!
