Pie in The Sky Idea, Humor me here... Posted by DietrichOS [Email] ![]() ![]() |
In the mid-eighties Car and Driver built a Honda CRX with a motor in the front and one in the rear. Both engines had automatic transmissions, and the connecting device was the road. Apparentally it worked beautifully.
In the mid-nineties Car and Driver did a story about a guy who relocated his motor to the rear of a C900 3-door Turbo. The engine, transmission, and front suspension were all relocated to the rear. That much is possible.
You can probably see where this is going. Would it possible, nevermind feasible, to install one B204 Turbo in the rear with an automatic, while having another up front with an automatic as well?
Weight would skyrocket. Fuel "economy" (consumption?) would get down into Hummer range. BUT what we would have after doing this would be an eight-cylinder, twin-turbo, all-wheel-drive C900 with an independant rear suspension. I have many reasons to believe the front suspension of the C900 is absolutely brilliant, putting it onto the rear end as well would be a great asset to handling.
Also, weight distribution would presumably be a perfect 50/50 Front to Rear.
I am not considering this, I do not have the means/time/space/skill to get any of this done. For Now. But some day, when I am old and rich and eccentric (moreso) I could see trying to do it.
Any thoughts or feedback would be welcome, even if it is to accuse me of being drunk/high. Which I am not.
