To recap - 87' 900t 5spd w/roughly 95k - failed RI (similar to CA - dyno test) emissions w/the following results:

HC 4.66 gpm (limit 2.25) FAIL
Co 1.12 gpm (limit 23.74) PASS
NoX 4.27 gpm (limit 3.25) FAIL
Co2 530.83 gpm (no limit indicated) - Pete K., we know how you feel about this! ;)

I am still reading the hundreds of old posts relating to this issue & combining this w/the info supplied to me over the last 36hrs I'm going to:

- Replace the catalytic converter (but what brand? - from eEuro, Autohaus, Summit...suggestions appreciated.)

- Replace the AMM? (not positive on this yet...any sure way to determine if mine is bad? I'm still seeking info on a quality rebuild brand...again, any insight?)

- Repl. the spark plugs (NGK BCP7ES - or 6ES?)...maybe the cap/rotor & wires...though records indicate all this stuff is fairly new. I've already put in a new o2 sensor - even now swinging happily between .025v & .750v

- Run a Techron (20oz btl.) fortified tank of gas through, followed by 1/4 tank of reg. untreated gas, then fill up again w/93 octane (is Hess OK?) & x3 (x4...more?) bottles of iso-DRYGAS before going back for a retest...which has to happen before 5/14/07 or the DMV will suspend the registration >:(

Should I retard the timing a bit too? 13deg BTDC? If the dashpot is shot (it is) will it matter? Please feel free to chime in - I value all opinions. Thanks!
