The level of knowledge you possess on this subject (& others) is impressive...you've given me a lot to think about. I searched Performance-Curve on eBay as you recommended & found nothing that was a direct fit. With the universal Magna Flow cat, would I have to find a shop to cut the flanges off my old cat (not exactly spiffy) and weld them on to the new one? How much is that likely to cost? Do you think any muffler shop will do it? Wouldn't that be like bringing your own beer to a bar?
~ eEuro sells the "Car Sound" brand direct fit for $150 (I've never heard of this brand, but Dean is good to deal with)
~ Autohaus Arizona has two direct fit cats - Bosal for $115 (crappy looking welding) & another resembling OE (brand?) for $183
~ Summit Racing sells the univ. Magna Flow for $64
~ Performance-Curve sells LOTS of Magna Flow cats on eBay for "best offer" ($50?)
I'm working with a serious time constraint...RI DMV gave me till 5/14 to get the car to pass (this whole state has a 'Napoleon Complex' - you should see the size of the Capitol Building!) before they suspend the registration. So while I'd like to get a Magna Flow cat, the potential problems involved regarding getting flanges welded on makes having a direct fit unit ready to go seem a more practical approach. I know you said all manufactures are likely to be fine, but do you (or anyone else) have any experience with the ones I listed above? Thanks a lot!
