You have typical ring damage from overheating. They will often recover somewhat or mostly from driving. Get that thing on the road and drive it for a few days-then check the compression.I worked on a friends 93na last summer. He ran it very hot. After the gasket was replaced his compression was as low as 10 in a couple cylinders. After running it came up to 100. Enough to get it functional. Unfortunately he forgot to tighten the alternator belt tension bolt. He threw the alternator belts off and fried the engine again. He blew 2 head gaskets in the first 100 miles he drove the car! He's on another engine now and quite happy with his 93 vert.
