As long as where you are applying the adhesive is free of rust, you will have a repair stronger and eaiser than that of conventional welding. This stuff is expensive, but amazing and can be applied with a caulking gun depending on what you get. But considering the cost of welding if you are not doing it yourself, it is actually cheaper and it does not take much adhesive. Body guys are using this stuff to repair rusted out body panels instead of welding. As far as structural, I would contact 3m or the company of the product you use, but I know for a fact that they have higher contact strenght and hold strength than welds.
Good luck
