It is most likely ignition system noise. I dunno about trying resistor (R) type spark plugs, I know that's OK for the 9000's with Direct Ignition (maybe?)... but read somewhere years ago that using them on c900's isn't a good idea. I could be wrong on that, but normally these things stick in my head for a reason.
What year is your car again?
I ask becuase for much of the model run of the c900 there was a metal cylinder thing attached to the coil on the radiator frame, with a long black ground wire that grounds on a phillips head screw on the metal body of the distributor. I don't know what to call this device, it looks like a metal capacitor of some sort -- but anyway, its sole purpose to was squash/suppress interference type noise.
So... maybe check to see if you car has this. The 2 black wires sometimes fray / break (one to the coil, the other to the distributor)... and if this has occurred, could very well be the cause of your noise.
If it's not that... check your alternator ground strap. If they're frayed you'll probably see charging/ battery problems, but also can get noise.
