LH 2.2 vs. LH 2.4

Just checked the bentley bible to see if my recollection was correct. My '87 (LH2.2) had a vacuum controlled canister. My '89 and '90 have electronically-controlled ELCD (Evap Loss Control Device).
On the LH 2.2 ELCD it looks like a vacuum in front of the throttle butterfly (i.e. throttle open) causes a weak vacuum to open the vacuum switch through the small hose, which in turn allows fuel vapor store in the canister to flow through the larger hose that plugs in on the other side of the throttle butterfly. From there it is burned in the engine.
So the vacuum switch is more like a transistor rather than a diode (I'm not an electrical engineer so perhaps my analogy is incorrect). I would try to find a generic vacuum switch, but I'd be concerned that any orifice diameter difference could cause a driveability problem. A used charcoal canister is another option. 75 32 054 is the part number and, like so many parts for the C900, it's no longer available from Saab. Used to cost $63 if you could still find one on the shelf.
I'd be a bit more cautious if I were Saab about discontinuing parts that are critical to emissions functionality. That ought to be a crime while there are still so many C900 models running around out there.
