got to love e-bay,
about 3 or 4 months ago i was shopping for the 9000 aero rim`s just so happens when i looked on e-bay they were listed for sale.
seems the previous owner had the 9000 aero rims and had them black chromed dipped.
he said the price of the dipping for the wheels was around 800 buxs.
not including how much he spent for the rims.
his intention was to put them on a spg he was going to buy, so as time went on the wheels just sat in his house waiting for the spg that was to be bought in the near future, however it seems instead of the spg that was to be he ended up buying a viggen and now had no use for the 9000 aero rims, even though they where so outstanding he could not use them.

so the auction was immanent, and just the time he listed them, i was looking to invest in the 9000 aero style rim.
so i watched the auction for five days and in the last few minutes the bid was at 620 bux it was then i put a max bid of 1300 and waited.
to my surprise at the close of the auction no one had bid again on them.
which left the rims at a total of 630 for the set.
paid 50 buxs in shipping and thats was the end of that.

or was it.

after about 3 months the seller wrote me and asked if i had the rims mounted on a car yet and would really like to see a picture of them.
so gladly i referred him to saabnet where the picture of the rims with the car has been posted on saabnet, and then asked for his e-mail address to send him a few more pic.s
he wrote back with his e-mail address and it kinda sounds like he was regretting selling the rim.
i wrote back and said if he was planing on having another set of 9000 rims dipped i would have no problem saying there are only two sets of these black chrome dipped rims in the entire world.
:)
then said if he was going to go the rout of dipping not to do another set of the 9000 rims but do a set of the super aero`s
now how off the wall would that look.
man,.. i think having a super aero rim dipped in black chrome would be the best looking wheel ever.
i always thought the super aero rim was missing something,.. and now i found out what it was, (needs to be dipped)

anyhow that's the story of the rims.
and just to add, the pictures of the rims in the auction didnt do the wheels any justice.
i thought when they came they would be used and have a few road rashes and a few scratches.
i pulled them out of the box and the rim was brand new, not a scratch on them and had never been mounted on a car after they were dipped.
its one far out rim.
but it seems that when the wheels were dipped the shop that was doing the work said it was almost impossible to have the center caps dipped and then to expect the chrome to hold to them (seeing the center caps were plastic)
i asked about them because i noticed one of my center caps started to peal up around the edge, (pic)
and got this response.
so i sat and thought about this for a bit... thinking if this one is starting to peal its only a matter of time before they all peal,
and in having them re-dipped its only a matter of time before the hole process starts all over again.
so i coated the back side of the caps with fiberglass resin, and have the resin overflowing on the edge of the cap just enough to grab the dipped chrome.
so now that the resin dried there is no way the dipping can start to peal. unless the chrome separates from the center of the plastic cap.
but only time will tell.
