If you follow the 87 and 87A lines up, you'll see those slightly domed contacts - they look like very small discs in the real thing. The Common wiper bounces back and forth between there. The typicaly place for the contacts to get dirty would be on the upper surface of the Normally Open contact (87) and the lower surface of the Common (30).
I find the easiest way to clean the surfaces is to cut a thin sliver of fine sandpaper. Put it between the contacts, and push down on the armature, which will trap the sandpaper between the contacts. Then pull the sandpaper out. Flip the sandpaper over and do it again to clean the other half of the mating surfaces.
