Nosnaab,
Yeah sorry, I been kind of sleep deprived I think. I have had some success fixing the problem you're describing by thoroughly cleaning the governor and replacing the ATF and filter. Ask, "How come it used to work and now it doesn't?". Impurities and fine metal filings proliferate in the ATF as the transmission wears out. This stuff interferes with the smooth action of the various valves, like the governor valve. When new the valves have precisely the right clearance in their bores to move smoothly even if the bore in the aluminum casting is cold and contracted. (The valves are steel and contract much less). The filings and impurities in the ATF have the effect of reducing that clearance, an effect which first is noticeable when things are cold and tight. The filings also damage the surfaces of the valves and their bores and interfere with smooth valve action.
So you can replace your ATF and filter and also (or not) pull the governor and valve body and clean all the valves and bores and sometimes that's all it takes to get the unit working right again. If some component in the stack is so worn that it's just hurling debris into the ATF then the fix will be short lived. One other thing to consider would be screws or bolts that have worked loose. If the governor or valve body are not securely bolted on you can have some bad performance that changes as the casting warms up. Check all those fasteners for proper torque.
People worry about loose oil pipes in these units (there are about 16 of them) but I've only seen them loose when the front oil pan has been badly bent, they can't just come loose if properly installed. If you pull your valve body off you'll get to remove and replace the pipes (patience is the key). Good luck.
