Just buy a kit and plan on replacing the PP.
As far as sawzall, you don't have to cut completely through the PP fingers, only score.
Then bend them back and forth (I used a large screwdriver) and they will break. Naturally, retreive the pieces and discard.
I wouldn't attempt to cut through the slave cylinder. That steel has to be very hard.
I used a rotary cutting tool rather than a sawzall.
Installation, I jacked the car and used the weight of the car to compress the fingers on the PP. I think I used heavy guage solid copper wire.
I held the assembly together with plastic tie wraps.
One last thought, when you are attemping to compress the slave cylinder, did you loosen the bleeder?
