Yep man, that is 98% certain to be a bad master cylinder. I don't recall the reason for this seemingly strange behavior but replacing or rebuilding the MC solves the problem nearly every time. Probably a very small rise in temp. is required to make the MC seals work properly. I've had good luck rebuilding these MCs. The only reason not to would be if it has a damaged bore and I just haven't seen that very often. You can actually do this without removing the MC from the firewall but you have to like laying on the floor under the steering wheel. Good luck man!
